The Canada Border Services Agency says it continues to consider all four options for a permanent border crossing -favouring one notably less than the others -while Akwesasne is leaning strongly towards approving a new agreement that will push construction of a new bridge ahead.
CBSA spokesperson Sabrina Mehes explained that the four options -reopening the Cornwall Island facility, making the temporary port of entry in Cornwall permanent, building a new port in New York State beside the U.S. customs port, or closing the border crossing altogether -are all still viable options under consideration.
