Ontario, Quebec Exports Projected To Grow This Year

(Financial Post)

Export industries in Canada’s two biggest provinces are expected to see growth this year and next, forecasts from Export Development Canada showed Tuesday.

Ontario, which has seen declines in exports for the last four years, is expected to see a 15 per cent surge this year and a further gain of seven per cent in 2011.

Quebec, where exports have declined in five of the last 10 years, was forecast to see export growth of nine per cent this year and five per cent in 2011.

The auto industry will prove to be a boon to Ontario, where it represents 29 per cent of the export industry, the latest forecast shows. A 28 per cent rise in auto exports is anticipated this year, followed by a further eight per cent in 2011. Read more here.
