Customs plaza improvements on the U.S. side of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel are scheduled to begin April 12.
The multimillion-dollar construction work will last several months and includes two phases -- the first to add another inspection booth, plus modifications to lanes 1 and 2. That work should be completed by June. A second phase will see creation of a bus processing area, expansion of the secondary inspection plaza and improvements to the U.S. customs office space.
